How to Score Higher in Number Pop's Score Challenge: Combos, Fever and Time Bonuses
"It said 90 seconds, so why have I been playing for three minutes?" Number Pop's Score Challenge gets longer the better you play, so knowing how to score also keeps you alive longer.
1. Learn the points table
| Numbers in one link | Points |
|---|---|
| 3 | 30 |
| 4 | 50 |
| 5 | 80 |
One 5-link (80) beats two 3-links (60). Go long when you can, but pausing too long to find a 5-link can break the combo below, so balance matters.
2. Combos are everything
Every link adds one to your combo, and the multiplier grows to 1.2, 1.5, 1.8 and 2x at 5, 15, 30 and 50. A mistake or a long pause breaks it. In practice, aim to link again within about four seconds.
Tip: if no 5-link shows up, take a 3-link right away. Past combo 30, even 3-links are worth 1.8x.
3. Trigger Popcorn Fever often
Every 25 popped tiles sets off Popcorn Fever: 8 seconds of double link points with automatic hints showing the way. During fever, don't think, just link what you see. Rounds full of quick links see fever more often.
4. Earn time by linking
You start with 90 seconds, but every link adds a little time. The bonus shrinks as your level rises, and mistakes cost 0.3–0.7 seconds. Extra time has a cap, so every game ends within four minutes. Cutting mistakes protects both your time and your combo.
The three classic mistakes:
- Linking diagonally (only up, down, left and right)
- Skipping a number (1 → 3 doesn't count)
- Linking only two (pops start at three)
5. Look again after the refill
Popped cells refill with new numbers. Instead of tracing the path you saw before letting go, glance at the new numbers first. That habit cuts mistakes a lot.
6. Hints are for dead ends
Depending on the hint mode, you get a fixed number of hints or earn them with points. Early in a round there are plenty of paths, so save hints for later when your eyes are tired.
Where to practice
The small practice board in the Number Pop guide lets you try valid paths with no timer. Records stay in this browser, and My Records shows your top 10 by difficulty and hint mode.
